It’s all on the phone

I never knew how frustrating these past and next few days would be without my camera. I was prepared to be without my camera for 2 weeks, but on the condition it was being checked over. The fact that it never got sent away and I was given the refund instantly, put a spanner in the works, so now I know it’s never coming back and it’s up to me to replace it! Thing is, I don’t want to replace it – this is my chance to upgrade it, and money-wise, I just wasn’t ready for this to happen yet. After much research over cameras and pricing – even taking a glance over the fence at Nikons range aswell, I think I’ve decided that the Canon 700D is the next one for me at this stage {so long I don’t change my mind again}, leaving me $400 short! I feel like I’ve been back and forth to this store a hundred times, each time leaving more frustrated than the first.
There’s still another week and a half till I may be able to have another camera again. My phone holds no inspiration for me and it’s been an effort to capture these last few photos. How it it a camera; an accessory to my life can cause so much heart ache once taken away? I seem to have emotionally invested myself too much into the black plastic box. It’s becoming a part of me; but is this really such an issue if it is to capture memories that will last the life time? The upgrade will be awesome, but the waiting period in between, not so much.

DAY 23 | 365

After a long busy day out of the home, I got ready for bed just to stress a little bit more that I hadn't taken my photo today. How many decent photos can you take on your phone in low light under a normal light? not many! But I do like this shot despite the quality.

DAY 24 | 365

My poor attempt at toy photography. Took me a while to set up the little there is here to set up, since a one year old decided she also wanted to play what Mummy was playing - Not that she had any interest either before or after the photos!

DAY 25 | 365

Sweet Tooth - Blueberries are definitely a favourite, and added to a cold glass of water to help cool down was my alternative to another pack of soft banana lollies today!

DAY 26 | 365

Inspiration - Getting outside does help the eye of the lens to hunt out the detail. This morning down at the park I noticed these brightly coloured concrete stepping stones. Won't be long before Perry is jumping from one to the next!

I would love to hear about which camera you use, how long you’ve had it and your favourite thing about it or why you would recommend it! Apart from the fact I think I’ve choosen my match {Canon 700D}, I’m not completely sold, and don’t think I will be until after the box is in my hot lil hands!

  1. Lovely photo’s considering they’re from the phone, I love day 25, it’s my favourite. I have a Nikon D3100, I wouldn’t recommend it for an upgrade haha but I love how easy the settings are to change so easy to find without looking, hate the grain, but I probably wont upgrade for awhile because even with it’s limitations I still love it.

  2. Day 23 – that’s quite good for a phone.

I use a Canon PowerShot S3 IS. It’s old technology by current standards but I like it. I also use a Canon 35mm SLR. I’m pretty much sold on Canon when it comes to cameras. Hope you enjoy your new Canon when it arrives.

  3. LOVE Day 25!!! It’s beautiful, simple, and gorgeous lighting and composition. You might be frustrated with using your phone but you’re doing great with it. I upgraded from a Canon Rebel xTi to the Canon 60D nearly a year ago and I practically swoon every time I turn the power on. What I love – it’s fast, ISO goes up to 6400 and although I don’t use that ISO, I’m very happy with the results I get at ISO 3200 (not too noisy for the most part). There’s a feature where I can set a custom setting which I learned about at a workshop (it’s super cool). I bought it used but it was in pristine condition (box, instructions, all the discs, etc). I will be shooting with this for at least a few more years. Good luck!

  4. Lovely photos with your phone, hope your replacement is in your hands soon.
It’s sad how almost naked we are without a camera, I know I’m lost when I forget mine at home or leave it at home at my family’s request πŸ˜‰
I’m using a Nikon D3200, similair to Jennifer’s D3100, agree about the noise but great cameras to really learn well on. Would love to move up to the Nikon D7100 or it’s rumoured replacement when the time is right, the D750 wouldn’t get sent back either if it arrived for Christmas from Santa, pretty sure though that the Santa who delivers to my house doesn’t quite get my photography passion πŸ˜‰

    • We’re now waiting to hear back from a mastercard company as to weather I can put the remaining credit on card instead of payday, however all the sales that were on have now just finished aswell since it’s taking soo long! so I’ll definitely be waiting until the one i want comes on sale again now, as painful as the waiting time is!
