Stoked About A Fresh Start!

I’ve totally made the effort of posting tonight, in order to make a statement that I’m done with using photo’s from my phone. These are the last ones I hope to show you. I have pushed my creativity plenty with my Samsung S3, but it’s just not attractive enough for me to delve deeper. I love the complete manual control of a bulky DSLR and really struggled through these past weeks without one. But I know when I look back at the end of the year on my photos I will feel an even greater accomplishment for pushing through when others were practicing newly learnt skills where my phone didn’t have the controls.
I have now PAID for my new machine, and with any luck, should have it in my hot little hands just after lunch time tomorrow! I went for the Canon 70D and am super stoked! My excitement is crazy and time can not go fast enough until then! I have researched over and over all the possibilities, comparing prices, cameras and lenses, keeping in mind my photographic future, what I might want to shoot, and what my needs will be long down the track. I’ve chosen to just get the kit 18-55 lens to get me by until I’ve got a wide angle and a macro, and then I’ll upgrade to the Tamron 28-75mm I think {Opinions are most welcome though}. I already have the 50mm f/1.8 and so a wide angle 10-20mm is next on my list, thinking either Sigma or Tamron. Suggestions/experiences here?? My macro will be the Canon 100mm f/2.8, but I’d say that’s quite a way away yet. Also what camera bags does everyone own?? I really love the look of the SHUTTERbags, but just can not justify the price!

So I’ll leave you with these three photos for tonight – the last ones from my phone, and hopefully I’ll pick up the controls on my new piece quick enough to deliver you crisp goods in a few days time. If you follow me on Instagram, you can expect to see those images even sooner!

DAY 73 | 365

daughter, lifestyle, puddles, childs play

Bedtime or to learn about puddles?? The late arvo shower had passed but still couldn’t keep us dry for long here … and then it was straight in the bath.

DAY 74 | 365

running, lifestyle, training

It was a month ago I first announced my desire to run the 12km city to surf… well I finally donned my trainers and attempted my first run. I can now comfortably say that won’t be my last attempt since it didn’t go as bad as expected.

DAY 75 | 365

driving, night time, bokeh

Quick drive to the store before it closed tonight; picking up some morning essentials.

  1. Beautiful Chanelle! I am not sure what you have used before, but if you have a 50mm 1.8, will you use the kit lens?? My 50 mm rarely parts from my camera πŸ˜‰ I would save my money πŸ™‚ Can’t wait to see what’s next for you! Does Canon have a cheap 35mm or 24mm? Just my 2 cents…

    • Thankyou =) 2 cents can be worth a lot sometimes too =P but yea I will use the kit lens. Our unit we live I’m is pretty small that even the 50mm is to long sometimes unless I want a head shot. I went through all my old photos and most of the ones in the home were between 30 and 35, but I know when out at the beach for scenery 18mm is just not quite wide enough. I didn’t want to buy a prime over a zoom as I was just thinking for example when we take Perry to the zoo I don’t want to have to worry about changing lenses but like the option to zoom in out. I do love the 50mm though and it definitely doesnt get left to gather dust. I did scour the second hand sites but there really isn’t much going. I did find today though a wide angle zoom secondhand $170 less the new price at 6months old…

  2. Congratulations! I bought the 60D about two years ago, not sure the difference between it and the 70D but know you will love it. I do have to say again your phone photos have been great so can only imagine what you will do with your new camera. I have a Canon 50mm f/1.4 great for DoF and close ups. It stays on my camera the majority of the time. I have Canon 10-22 mm f/3.5-4.5 that I take with me when we travel as it is great for landscapes and buildings, etc. I also have a Canon 18-200mm but have only used a few times, it is great but I just don’t need three lens so thinking about selling it πŸ™‚ Can’t wait to see …
